For the Techies…
Virtual Taos is virtual simulation of the Plaza in Taos, New Mexico. The simulation runs on the Open Simulator platform (opensimulator.org) and is hosted on a cloud based VM. OpenSimulator is an open source multi-platform, multi-user 3D application server. It can be used to create a virtual environment (or world) which can be accessed through a variety of clients, on multiple protocols. The virtual environment supports real world physics and 3D content.
For everyone else…
After spending many years in the virtual world of SecondLife (secondlife.com), I discovered the technology that this virtual world was based upon and decided to create my own “world”. Since then I have created numerous virtual worlds including Virtual Taos.
In Virtual Taos you can:
- Create an avatar, which can be modeled after a human, animal or object.
- Interact with other avatars (chat, dance and just about anything else you can do in the “real” world).
- Listen to music and watch virtual artists perform in real time.
- Buy virtual objects.
- Watch the sunset
- Have fun!
Virtual Taos was created to allow people who have called Taos home to come back to the virtual Plaza and hang out, dance and chat with old and new friends, from Taos and all over the world.
I created this blog to keep our members informed of all the latest news and events in Virtual Taos.
